These titles have been announced for release on DVD and VHS in August:

"Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins" (2000) (G) VHS Clamshell or DVD
starring the voice of Tim Allen
available August 8
Unavailable for preview, this new, made-for-video feature gives the "Toy Story" star his own movie (and soon to be TV series). This feature will be done in standard animation with a computer-animated opening featuring Woody. Plan for another attack from Emperor Zurg. Read more

"The Rescuers Down Under" (1990) (G) VHS Clamshell or DVD
starring the voices of Bob Newhart and George C. Scott

The 1990 sequel to the 1977 original "The Rescuers" comes to DVD for the first time. This time around, Bernard (voiced by Bob Newhart) is trying to pop the question to Bianca (Eva Gabor) when they're summoned to Australia, where a young boy has been kidnapped by a pallid, gray-faced poacher (who looks like and is voiced by George C. Scott). (Ages 5 and older)

"Hercules" (1997) (G) VHS Clamshell or DVD
starring the voices of Tate Donovan and James Woods
available August 1
Hip and slick, this recent feature returns to VHS and DVD. With artist Gerald Scarfe's original character designs, the look of the film is more imaginative than recent efforts. With a bouncy score and an ace turn by James Woods as the evil Hades, the film holds up very well.

"A Bug's Life" (1998) (G) VHS Clamshell or DVD
available August 1
Brighter and more colorful than the other animated insect movie of 1998 ("Antz"), Pixar's "A Bug's Life" is the sweetly told story of Flik (voiced by David Foley), an ant searching for better ways to be a bug. As with "Toy Story," the ensemble of creatures and voices is remarkable and often inspired.

Be our guest and find some of these great Disney titles on VHS, currently on moratorium, but available from zShops as "previously viewed" and sometimes "new": "Beauty and the Beast," the only animated film ever to be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar; "Fantasia," perhaps Disney's masterpiece and the best fusion of animation and music; and "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," the classic film that Disney gambled his company on, and that made feature animation a viable commercial medium.
