NEW CATEGORIES: HARRY POTTER AND SUMMER
Harry Is Back!
Attention Muggles and Wizards alike! Amazon.com e-Cards is proud to be the
exclusive home of Harry Potter e-cards. With Harry's long-anticipated fourth
adventure arriving on July 8, these e-cards--featuring cover art from the first three
episodes--are the perfect way to share in the excitement. Use our popular and
free voice-greeting feature to create your own "e-Howler" or attach an
Amazon.com gift certificate to these or any of our e-cards. And be sure to explore
our Harry Potter Store for all the latest on our friend Harry. You can even preorder your
copies and be one of the first to share in the fun!
Summer
Break out your finest pair of flip-flops, peel your sticky self off the couch,
and start the iced tea a-brewin'. The hot weather is officially here, and now
you can send a cool breeze across the wires. There's no better way to stay cool
than with one of our brand-new summer e-cards--unless, of course, you pull a
cannonball during adult swim.
UPCOMING HOLIDAYS: GRADUATION, INDEPENDENCE DAY, AND BASTILLE DAY
Graduation
Your graduate has finally done it! Years of homework, tests, and after-school
activities have all come to fruition and now it's time to express your pride.
Wish your graduate the best of luck with an e-card and gift certificate from our
Graduation category.
Independence Day
America's birthday party is always a big deal. There are fireworks to be
exploded, parades to be marched, and hot dogs to be relished-up! This July 4,
celebrate the USA's freedom with a big bowl of macaroni salad and one of our
Independence Day e-cards.
Bastille Day
July 14 is Bastille Day in France, and we have special e-cards to help celebrate
the occasion. On this day in 1789, the citizens of Paris stormed the Bastille to
revolt against the monarchy, an event which signaled the beginning of the French
Revolution. So send a card and salute the three colors of
"liberté, egalité, et fraternité." Vive
la France!
ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: HAPPYART
HappyArt
We're proud to welcome a brand-new contributor to the ever-growing lineup of e-card collections at Amazon.com. Marti McGinnis has been making freelance e-cards for us for almost a year, and when we discovered that she had her own line of illustrations, it turned out to be a happy coincidence (HappyArt, in fact). HappyArt features colorful characters and upbeat messages that are guaranteed to make you stop and smile. Send one of her e-cards and pass on the good wishes!
HIDDEN TREASURES
Mr. Happy Bigwig
Aloha, e-card friendlies! Editor Sam at your service. You know, I've always
wanted to be a captain of industry, a robber baron, a happy bigwig--just like
this guy. He doesn't take flack from anybody. When he asks for a ham sandwich,
he GETS a ham sandwich. When he barks "Johnson! I want the report on my desk by three!", by golly, Johnson has it double-checked by 2:45. Plus, he gets to wear a pretty sweet vest. Find Mr. Happy Bigwig and other wacky 1950s folk in our Retro Photography section.
Under the Desk
Shhhh! Don't let them see me! It's Kirk again, your stressed-out e-cards editor, reporting to you from underneath my desk. It's been a long day, and I don't want to go to any more meetings. So I've taken refuge in my cubicle, in the hopes of avoiding more work before the whistle blows. I have a fresh cup of coffee, and I'm prepared to camp here for a long time if necessary. Catch a glimpse of me before I try to sneak out for the night.
The Bitter End
Even though I'm leaving the e-cards team forever, I've been allowed one final
moment to share a hidden treasure with the good people in cyberspace. It's a
darling image of an ant standing perilously between two anteaters. You look at
this little beauty and see that it's cute, simple, and charming. And then the
chilling realization of that little drone's true situation hits you like a ton
of bricks and mortar. I think this e-card best summarizes my 18-month tenure at the helm of Amazon.com e-Cards: adorable, sweet, but--when you think about it--frightening and depressing. Good luck to new Senior Editor Kirk Anderson!
(Editor's note: Don't worry, we've changed the locks. We won't be hearing from
Mr. Moe anymore.)
